Four-star wide receiver Ja’Hyde Brown is set to make his college decision this Monday at 12PM EST, bringing an end to a recruitment that quickly picked up steam following his recent decommitment from Indiana earlier this month.
Brown reopened his recruitment on March 12th after originally committing in January. Kentucky very quickly worked to position themselves as a serious contender. He made a visit to Lexington shortly after decommitting, and his father also spent time on campus, attending practice. These visits helped Kentucky generate early momentum.
National recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong also pointed to Kentucky’s strong positioning early on. While Louisville initially appeared to be trending, Wiltfong noted that Kentucky was giving Brown a “lot to think about,” with the Wildcats making a strong push to keep him in Lexington.
As the recruitment is approaching its final stage and wrapping up, the decision appears to be a battle between Kentucky and Louisville. Another development worth noting came earlier this week when Brown returned to Lexington, another positive heading into committment day.
Kentucky remains firmly in the mix, but Louisville will likely win out — The hometown factor could play a significant role as he prepares to make his decision. However, Kentucky’s consistent communication, multiple visits, and early momentum has kept the them in strong position throughout his process, but will it be enough?
Brown announced Sunday that he will reveal his commitment Monday, setting up what appears to be a close decision between the two in-state programs. With momentum shifting throughout the process, Brown’s announcement is setting up to be a big in-state battle.
