5 Star Kaelyn Carroll Commits to KENTUCKY!

Somewhat lost in the madness that was the Champions Classic, the Kentucky Women’s Basketball Team dominated a Wofford team picked to finish first in their conference in preseason polls. Through three games, Kenny Brooks squad is winning by an average of 39.3 points per game and hasn’t allowed more than 43 points in a game this season. With all the momentum Brooks and the team have built, the staff was able to land a commitment 5-star Kaelyn Carroll. Carroll, a 6’2 forward from Marion, Massachusetts, is ranked as the #28 player in the 247 Composite rankings (an accumulation of all the reputable recruiting sites) and is ranked as high as #15 in the country by ESPN. She is the first commit for Brooks in the 2025 cycle, and the tape shows you exactly why she fits with this program.

Carroll chose the Cats over North Carolina, Ohio State, and South Carolina, who has won three of the last seven national championships. It’s no wonder some of the top programs in the country are after her given her size and skills on the court. Standing at a tall 6’2 with long arms, Carroll shows an exceptional ability to put the ball on the floor and create space initiating an offense. A handle at her size is rare and is one of the things Kenny Brooks values most in the players he decides to give wing minutes to. Not only can she be a wing creator as the main option of the offense, but she also excels in catch and shoot opportunities. In her 247 Sports scouting report, Brandon Clay describes Carroll as having a “consistent outside shot with legitimate range beyond the three-point line.” A player with her size who can put the ball on the court and put stress on defenses from all three levels is exactly the kind of player Brooks has filled his current team with.

The women’s team is in for a big matchup this Saturday in Historic Memorial Coliseum as the #20 Kentucky Wildcats (3-0) take on the #18 Louisville Cardinals (2-1). This game is at 6PM EST and will be aired on SEC Network+. This team could use a full house for a top 20 matchup against that team down the road, so make sure to get into HMC after the football game and cheer the Cats to a rivalry victory!
