The second domino of the day for Kentucky officially falls, as junior center Brandon Garrison is on the move.
Garrison played two seasons at Kentucky, averaging 16.6 minutes per game, 5.3 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game, 1.5 assists per game, 0.7 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game.
He was a backup center both years, first under Amari Williams, and this past year was expected to be the starting center until December or January, when projected first-round pick Jayden Quaintance returned from ACL surgery. However, things changed just six games in, as he moved back into a reserve role behind freshman Malachi Moreno.
He was a polarizing player in his time at Kentucky, but you could never question how hard he played or how much he cared on the floor. When it was “BG Time,” it was some of the most electric moments in both seasons.
Down the stretch of the season, in big moments in the SEC Tournament and the first March Madness game, he stepped up with two massive performances when Malachi Moreno was not quite at his best.
Against LSU in the first SEC Tournament game, he played 26 minutes, finishing with 17 points on 7-9 shooting and 2-3 from three, along with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals.
In the first round March Madness game vs. Santa Clara, he played 25 minutes, recording 10 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, and 6 blocks.
With the current center market in the transfer portal, as of today, 4/3/26 at 7 PM EST, I expect Brandon Garrison to be getting calls from some big-time schools, and likely a strong payday as well.
BG was not always the perfect player, but you could never question the joy he had and the passion he played with. As we will all remember, there was always “BG Time.”
Whether it was a technical foul, a tongue out after a big dunk, or a heat check three, or even the negatives of “BG Time,” like a missed dunk, a wide open layup, or an overthrown pass five rows into Rupp Arena, it was always an experience with Garrison.
But an awesome kid, a father of a young child, and someone who gave Kentucky some unforgettable moments in his two seasons under Mark Pope. I wish him all the best moving forward for his final season in college basketball.
