Collin Chandler enters the portal in shocking move

Mark Pope’s first recruit at Kentucky, Collin Chandler, has entered the transfer portal after two seasons in Lexington. After a breakout sophomore season, the 6’5 guard from Farming, Utah has entered the transfer portal.

Chandler saw limited action in his freshman season before multiple injuries that gave him more time on the floor. He played valuable minutes towards the end of the season, and worked his way into the starting lineup this past year as a sophmore.

Chandler started 31 of the 36 games played this past season. He averaged 9.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. He delivered some very clutch moments too. Most notably, the full-court pass to Malachi Moreno against LSU, late steal in Kentucky’s road game to beat Tenneseee, and his late three-pointer to seal the game against the Volunteers when they played again at home.

Kentucky will now have to quickly shift focus towards other players in the portal. They are now looking for four starters (with the assumption Kam Wiliams doesn’t) in a short time period until the transfer portal closes on April 21st.

Chandler is now joining the likes of Jaland Lowe, Jasper Johnson, Brandon Garrison, Mo Dioubate, Denzel Aberdeen, and Anrija Jelavic, who have all entered the transfer portal.

Times ticking.
