Collin Chandler makes quick decision and commits to BYU

Just days after entering the transfer portal, Collin Chandler is transferring to BYU, a move that seemed obvious after his announcement to enter the transfer portal yesterday.

The first commit to Kentucky under new head coach Mark Pope played two years for the Wildcats and wrapped up a fantastic sophomore year. Chandler, the 6’5 guard out of Farmington, Utah, started 31 out of Kentucky’s 36 games last year. He averaged 9.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.

Although it may have seemed like a surprising move to join the transfer portal, going to BYU was an expected move. Besides the fact BYU was close to his home state of Utah, it offered him a very appealing NIL package which made it an even better choice for him.

During his time in Lexington, Chandler game fans memorable performances. A full court pass teammate Malachi Moreno in a game against LSU, and a clutch steal against Kentucky’s road victory at Tennessee. He also hit a late three-pointers against Ole Miss and Tennessee at home to seal the wins.

With Chandler officially heading out of Lexington, the Cats continue to rebuild their roster in the transfer portal.
