Donnie Freeman is set to visit Kentucky on Tuesday, giving the cats an early opportunity to make a strong impression. Freeman is ranked as the No. 2 PF in the transfer portal.
This is a situation Kentucky had been tied to well before things became official. Bleed Blue’s Dylan Brake was one of the first to note Freeman was expected to enter the transfer portal and that Kentucky would be heavily involved once he did. That early source proved accurate, and he is now emerging as one of Kentucky’s top targets with a visit locked in.

Freeman, a former five-star recruit entered college with major expectations. The 6’9 big man fits what Mark Pope is needs in Lexington: Elite size, physicality, and shooting ability.
Donnie averaged 16.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists this past season. His freshman season was considered better, but as a sophomore this past season he dealt with a lingering foot injury. A Jones fracture drastically impacted his performances, and numbers dropped a little bit. Despite that, he still ended the season with 47/30/77 shooting splits, playing 23 games and starting 21.

For Kentucky, this is an opportunity to get an established big man in the front court. With Robert Wright and Tyran Stokes visiting tomorrow, we could be seeing the roster shape very soon.
