Excite Night!

On Friday night Kentucky gymnastics continued their hot season by hosting Auburn at Memorial Coliseum and celebrating Excite Night. Fans were given light up ears, posters, and the UK gymnastics themselves were decked out in boas all night long. As rotation one began, Kentucky started on beam and had a fantastic rotation by Auburn beat them out with a great bars rotation by .125 going into the second rotation. Vault was led by senior, Mackenzie Wilson, with a 9.925 and the team held an overall score of 49.075. As for bars, the floor was as sticky as can be. Isabella Rivelli started the Cats off strong with a 9.875 and Skylar Killough-Wilhelm capped off the rotation with a 9.950 and putting the team in a great position moving forward. Halfway through Memorial Colisuem was still rocking as they honored all different types of kids tonight and even had guest judges from the local children’s hospital. Then all eyes were on beam. The Cats were holding onto a .275 lead and needed a big rotation as Auburn was on floor. With three 9.875 scores on the rotation and Magnelli closing out with a terrific 9.925, Kentucky finished the third rotation with a score of 49.375 and a .6 advantage over Auburn heading into the final rotation. Let’s just say these girls know how to perform. Captivating just about everyone in the Coliseum, Kentucky scores a 49.300 led by senior Hailey Davis’s rock routine in honor of her late father. Kentucky pulled away with a 197.050 victory over Auburn and will be back at home on February 14th to face Temple!
