Former Kentucky Guard Antonio Reeves Signs 2-Way Deal With The Hornets

NBA insider Shams Charania broke the news earlier today that former Kentucky Wildcat and 2024 second-round pick Antonio Reeves has signed a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets. After spending his rookie year with the New Orleans Pelicans, Reeves now gets a fresh opportunity with a young, and rebuilding organization.

Reeves carved out his name in Lexington as one of the greatest scorers in recent Kentucky history. After transferring from Illinois State in 2022, he quickly became an elite player at Kentucky in junior season, averaging 14.4 points per game, 2.2 rebounds per game, and 1.1 assists per game. His second season at Kentucky? Snubbed of making an All-American team to say the least. Averaging 20.2 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game, and 1.6 assists per game on 51/45/86 shooting splits.

He was selected 47th by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2024, and played exceptionally well for a late second-round pick last year. In 44 games with the Pelicans this year, he averaged 6.9 points per game, 1.4 rebounds per game. and .9 assists per game, on 46/40/80 shooting splits. This is a prime opportunity for Reeves to build off of a strong rookie season and push for a permanent NBA roster spot. And if 24.6 points per game in the G-League last year are any indication, he’s more than ready to make some noise and get back to work for year 2.

Congratulations, Antonio! Big Blue Nation is behind you, all the way to Charlotte!
