Kentucky’s 2027 quarterback commit Jake Nawrot had a successful weekend both on and off the field.
Nawrot, the No. 5 overall quarterback from Prospect Heights, Illinois, helped lead his team to a 49-14 victory Friday night before watching Kentucky open the Will Stein era with a 45-13 win over Youngstown State on Saturday.
Nawrot completed 17 of his 22 passes while throwing for 237 yards and four touchdowns. He also added 14 rushing yards and finished the night without taking a sack.
After watching Kentucky’s victory with his parents, he joined the Rivals Recruit Reaction Show to discuss the Cats’ performance and his future with the program.
For the highly touted signal-caller, seeing Stein lead Kentucky in an actual game was different from watching the program operate behind the scenes during his visits in the spring.
“Once you really see it kind of come to fruition and just actually watch them do it on Saturdays, it’s a really special thing,” he said. “It was definitely fun to watch, and I thought they played really well. The offense looked good, and i’m excited togo up there next week.”
Jake Nawrot will get an even closer look at the program when he visits Lexington next weekend. Kentucky is set to host Alabama in what should be one of the biggest games of the season. SEC Nation will be on site for the matchup, giving Kentucky an opportunity to prove themselves on a national stage.

Kentucky’s use of its offensive weapons particularly stood out to Nawrot. The Wildcats featured their tight ends with Willie Rodriguez, Mikkel Skinner, and Henry Boyer combining for 143 yards of offense.
“I thought they were using 12 personnel and their tight ends and a lot of their skilled guys really well,” Nawrot said. “Coach Stein utilizes talent, and I think at Oregon he did a great job, and he brought it over to Kentucky today.”
Nawrot has been committed to Kentucky since April and has helped establish the foundation of the Wildcats’ 2027 recruiting class. He said the group has continued to grow since his commitment, with talented players on both sides of the ball joining the him.
“I think the class slowly started to build over time,” he said. “We had a lot of offensive guys come in, and then the defense started coming in. It’s been a great class.”
The relationships with Kentucky’s coaching staff has almost remained a major part of Nawrot’s commitment. He said he speaks frequently with offensive coordinator Joe Sloan and has spent time learning more about te offensive system.
“Me and Coach Sloan, we got a great relationship, we call just about every day.”
After an impressive performance of his own Friday night, Nawrot spent Saturday watching Kentucky’s new offense come to life.
Based on his reaction, the future Wildcat liked what he saw.
