Jaxon Kohler to meet with Kentucky on Wednesday

Jaxon Kohler is officially in the transfer portal and Kentucky is already preparing for its next conversation.

Kohler was granted his injunction Tuesday, which allowed him, and others to officially enter the transfer portal for those who filed a lawsuit in Californa.

Now, Kentucky’s previously reported plans are coming into focus.

Kentucky has been in the mix for quite some time

A report From Jack Pilgrim on Tuesday indicated that Kohler is expected to hold a Zoom call with Kentucky on Wednesday. This is not surprising after the Wildcats were involved before he even entered the portal officially.

Bleed Blue Network reported that Kohler was waiting for the California injunction to pass before he would officially enter the transfer portal. Once that happened, Kentucky was planning to set up a Zoom call with Kohler and his family.

Can they win out in the Jaxon Kohler sweepstakes?

BYU, Kansas, and Louisville are among other programs that have expressed interest in Kohler. Additionally, Alabama and more than 15 other schools had reached out to him earlier in the process.

Still, Kentucky’s involvement dates back to before Kohler was even officially available in the portal.

Now, the Wildcats can make their case directly.

Jaxon Kohler would give Kentucky another experienced frontcourt option. He averaged 12.5 points and 8.9 rebounds per game last season at Michigan State. Additionally, he shot 38.9% from three-point range. Mark Pope certainly isn’t passing up on a shooter–especially a big man.

The reported Zoom call on Wednesday will be an important thing to monitor as Kentucky is still in pursuit of Mark Mitchell, who’s eligibility is still pending.
