Kentucky Athletics has announced that Kentucky freshman wide receiver Kenny Darby has been selected to the 247Sports Preseason True Freshman All-America Team as one of three receivers on the list.
Darby, a 247Sports four-star prospect and top-250 player, was the first high school commitment for Will Stein as head coach of the Wildcats, choosing the Cats over Alabama, LSU, Mississippi State, and Florida State.
Darby caught 83 passes for 1,124 yards and 8 touchdowns his senior season. Darby was also dangerous when used out of the backfield, rushing for 609 yards on 49 carries with 9 touchdowns. His ability to make plays in both the passing and running game makes Darby an intriguing and dangerous piece of Kentucky’s offense this season and moving forward.
The 6-foot-1 freshman has also been receiving praise from offensive coordinator Joe Sloan and head coach Will Stein throughout camp.
“I like Kenny Darby. That guy is super talented,” Stein said.
Darby is expected to play and contribute as a true freshman for the Cats this fall. Being named to the True Freshman All-America Team only confirms what the staff and fans have been saying:
