Kentucky fell 5-4 to the Texas Longhorns on Sunday at Kentucky Proud Park, handing the
Longhorns the weekend series victory.

The starting line up is Luke Lawrence, Tyler Bell, Patrick Herrera, Devin Burkes, Hudson Brown,
Kyuss Gargett, Shaun Montoya, Cole Hage and Ethan Hindle. Ben Cleaver is on the mound to
start things off for the Cats.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third. Cleaver hit the leadoff batter who then
advanced to third on a bunt. Texas followed with a string of RBI’s, bringing in three runs to clinch
a 3-0 lead.

Kentucky finally broke through in the bottom of the fourth when Gargett crushed a solo homerun
for the Cats first run. However, Texas continued to extend its advantage at the top of the sixth.
The Texas batter reached base and then stole second followed by a fly ball hit to center to bring
the runner across home plate.

Kentucky applied some pressure at the bottom of the seventh, getting within one run. Lawrence
and Bell each hit a single to get on base, and Herrera followed with a hit that allowed both
runners to advance. Burkes then hit a double to score both runners making the score 4-3 and
keeping Kentucky close.

Texas added their final run of the afternoon in the top of the eighth. The leadoff batter sailed a
double in between left and center field then scored on an RBI single.

Kentucky tried to stay alive at the bottom of the ninth but came short. Lawrence walked and Bell
followed hitting a single. Herrera hit a sacrifice fly to bring Lawrence home, but this was the Cats
final run of the game, giving the Longhorns both the game and weekend series win.

Kentucky will return to acting Tuesday at 7 p.m. hosting the University of Miami (OH).
