Mark Pope has a fun twist for the fans
On Thursday morning Mark Pope made Kentucky fans excited when he went on Instagram live to share todays final summer practice for the Wildcats would be open to the public. Originally, the first 100 fans were allowed. However, due to a large fan turn out some 450+ fans came to Rupp Arena to watch the Cats practice. Bleed Blue Network was in attendence and has all the takeaways from the practice. Lets take a closer look at what fans can expect in year three of Mark Pope’s tenure.
Kentucky Practice Key Takeaways
- Jerone Morton is a great defender, will be a very nice bench piece for Kentucky this season. Also, showed his scoring ability and won the Summer Winners Award as the most winning player that impacts his team.
- Noah, Kepnang, Williams all OUT of Practice. Noah due to a hamstring injury and is just precautionary. Kepnang works to be healthy for the season after years of injury history at previous stops. Lastly, Williams is working back after surgry on his foot that he broke last season. He’ll be available on the court this upcoming season, according to Mark Pope.
- Milan Momcilovic is as advertised shooting the basketball and could be America’s best three point shooter once again. On some accounts made 23/24 from three during the practice in a drill. Played very well during live 5v5 play as well. There will be some serious SEC player of the year conversations about him soon.
- Ousmane N’Diaye struggled from the floor shooting the ball. He has been a standout throughout most of summer practice.
- Guard play lives up to the hype Mason Williams was a standout and might be a big time sleeper heading into the season. Alex Wilkins and Zoom Diallo looks like your starting backcourt and makes things look easy by creating there own looks and playmaking off two in the lane.
- Malachi Moreno plays more physical and demands more touches. Blocked shots within reach and even showed his touch from behind the arc. High praise from around the program to make an All-SEC jump in his Sophmore campaign.
- Reece Potter had an up and down practice but showed value as a third string passer and lob threat when Kepnang returns.
- Braydon Hawthorne showed some wiggle and fluidity in his play during the practice. Made some tough shots in the lane and was a nice lob threat at times.
- Justin McBride showed he could be a valuable pick and pop player with a nice shooting stroke and ability to be crafty inside.
