Written by: Ainsley Saurers

No. 24 Kentucky Men’s Basketball fell to No.25 Ole Miss on Tuesday, February 4th. This was
their second loss in a row, following the loss against previous coach John Calipari’s new team,
the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The starting line up for the Cats was Jaxson Robinson, Otega Oweh, Ansley Almonor, and
Amari Williams.

Ole Miss were the ones that kicked things off scoring the first five points of the game, but
Williams stepped in to put the first points on the board for the Cats. Ole Miss reacted by scoring
again, but Williams was still hot and landed another bucket. The Rebels then went on another
run, scoring the next five points and taking the lead, 12-4.

Freshman Tyler Perry sank a three, but it didn’t slow the Rebels down much, they scored the
next five points again, 17-7. Oweh made a three followed by a layup from Brandon Garrison, but
Ole Miss just continued to grow their lead. Oweh managed a layup of his own, the score now
10-14.

Ole Miss went on a 13-4 run but Robinson sank a three getting that Cats within 12. Koby Brae
contributed with a basket of his own, but the Rebels wrapped the first half up with a 15-3 run.
The score was 54-31 going into halftime.

Coming into the second half, Ole Miss only continued to advance their lead 68-43. After some
time the Cats found some footing going on a run. Oweh landed a three and a free throw from
Garrison settled the score at 71-49. Robinson found the hole hitting a three and Garrison went
airborne for a dunk inching the Cats 5, 72-54.

Robinson sank another three, but the Rebels only responded with a 6-2 run growing their lead,
78-59. Williams and Robinson got a basket each and Oweh hit two free throws moving the Cats
closer to the Rebels, 78-67.

Ole Miss continued to grow their lead not letting the Cats get comfortable, but the Cats
responded with a 6-2 run and a three from Brea. The Cats managed to continue to inch up to
the Rebels, but it was not enough. Ole Miss claimed the victory, 98-84.

The Cats will return home on Saturday to host South Carolina, hoping to break their losing
streak. Tipoff is at noon ET.
