There’s been a pretty noticeable type of energy around Kentucky basketball recruiting this weekend. It’s not just coming from the coaching staff.
As Mark Pope and the staff are getting ready for visits, the support from fans has been quite the storyline.
Tyran Stokes, the No. 1 overall player in the class of 2026, is scheduled to be on campus monday for an visit. Rob Wright, one of the top players in the transfer portal is also expected to be in town. A frat house in Lexington made it known that they would like to see them in Kentucky blue next year:
A group of Kentucky students gained attention for hanging bedsheets, with a “Come Home Stokes” and “Come Home Rob” messages on the front of their house. But it didn’t stop there: Syracuse big man Donnie Freeman, who averaged 16.5 points and 7.2 rebounds last season will visit Kentucky on Tuesday–take a wild guess at what they did.
Kentucky assistants Mo Williams and Mikhail McLean reportedly stopped by the house to check it out for themselves this evening. According to reports, McLean was even on Facetime with Donnie Freeman.
One student said McLean was “mad [the students didn’t] have one up for him,” and they moved quickly to create a third banner.

At a time where everything within the fanbase has been tense, The role of media outlets on whether it benefits or hurts recruiting, this weekend has contradicted that. Vibes are still overwhelmingly positive. No matter how good or bad Kentucky is at basketball, they will always be passionate and supportive.
Pretty cool to see.
