Bleed Blue Network has learned Syracuse power forward Donnie Freeman will enter the transfer portal. Kentucky will be very involved in his recruitment. I had been hearing about this happening for a few months now. This has been mentioned in the Bleed Blue Room chat multiple times.
Donnie is a high upside, versatile Power Forward. He’s a capable, engaged defender, and I personally believe he’d be a perfect fit in Mark Pope’s Zoom Offense.
Donnie returned to Syracuse after a solid Freshman season that dubbed him as a potential 1st round pick. After testing the NBA Draft he decided to return and strengthen that case. Although he had a better statistical season, he did struggle in areas scouts hoped to see improvement. This was primarily due to a recurring foot issue, caused from a Jones Fracture the year prior. That caused him to miss some games. He ended up playing 23 games and averaging 16.5 Points, 7.2 Rebounds, 1.3 Assists, and 1.7 Stocks. He shot totaled 47/31/77 shooting splits this past season.
Donnie Freeman is a prospect to keep an eye on once the portal is officially open.
