Kentucky is Interested in FAU Transfer Guard Devin Vanterpool

Florida Atlantic guard Devin Vanterpool has officially entered the transfer portal, and early interest is already beginning to form, especially on the Kentucky side, Bleed Blue Network’s Dylan Brake has learned.

Vanterpool, a 6’4 sophomore guard, is coming off a breakout season at Florida Atlantic Owls men’s basketball where he averaged 15.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 35.1 percent from three. He led FAU in scoring and earned Third Team All-AAC honors along with Most Improved Player after taking a major step forward in his second year.

Shortly after Vanterpool announced his decision, reports surfaced that Kentucky has already made contact with his representation. Vanterpool is viewed as a defensive minded guard with strong physical tools and upsid. Although he can be an inconsistent scorer at times, his size, defensive ability, and versatility make him an attractive portal target.

Kentucky’s early interest makes sense given the Wildcats’ expected need for experienced backcourt production. Vanterpool’s size and ability to contribute in multiple areas make him an appealing option as Kentucky continues to evaluate transfer portal targets.

The recruitment is still in the early stages, but he is expected to draw interest from multiple high-major programs after his breakout season this past year.
