Zoom Diallo: Kentucky Player Profiles, Vol. 1

Welcome to Bleed Blue Network’s Kentucky Player Profiles for the 2026-27 season. We’re going to begin this series by talking about Zoom Diallo--someone a player that will be essential in Kentucky rotation this upcoming season.

PG: Zoom Diallo. 6’4 195lb. (JR)

Zoom Diallo was born in Tacoma, Washington. Joined the varsity roster as an 8th grader before becoming the #1 ranked high school player in the state. He led his team to back to back state championships his Sophomore – Junior season, he was also named Washington’s Gatorade Player Of The Year averaging 20.2 Points Per Game. Transferred to Prolific Prep his senior season, and was a McDonald’s All American.

Started 22/31 Games as a Freshman for Washington, averaging 11.1 Points, 3.1 Rebounds, 2.7 Assists on 47/18/72. Started 29/32 Games as a Sophomore averaging 15.7 Points, 3.9 Rebounds, 4.5 Assists, 49/32/83.

Offensively

Zoom Diallo is a Dynamic On Ball Guard, gets downhill easily with each hand and is a very strong passer with either, he finishes through contact at the rim very well, big bodied PG, but he also has a reliable mid range pull up game that he utilizes often. Hes Not a great/high volume 3P shooter, I don’t foresee that changing much in his role at UK, but I think as his shot selection improves, and he’s taking clearer/open 3’s, I think he’ll be able to knock them down. His playmaking abilities are extremely high level, his basketball IQ is noticeably really high level, while also being a very efficient ball handler/passer, there’s not much “extra” with him, he reads defenses well, and is very good out of the Pick n’ Roll. 30.3% AST. Playing with Wilkins you may see him off ball a little bit more than at Washington, with his size, and IQ, look for him to be an ELITE Screen/Cutter, rim finisher, similar to Lamont Butler Year 1 when off ball.

Defensively

Zoom has Not been a very active steals guy, but he is still a very capable CG Defender who can stay in front of his man. Not overly concerned with him moving to the SEC I think he’ll be a solid on ball defender, and step up as a leader who encourages that next level of defense, and with certain lineups, it’ll give him more chances to gamble in passing lanes, steals, etc like we’ve seen out of previous UK Guards. Lots of digs on drives from the top.

Its hard for me not to believe Zoom Diallo is by far the best PG Mark Pope has had in his career. The production speaks for itself, and the improvement in his game shows he’s will to work hard to get better, I think he’ll be a very effective leader for Kentucky who takes and makes big shots for UK in some games this season. I can’t wait to see how he operates off Moreno Screens, open spaced offense and plenty of transition opportunities, it’s gonna be fun!
