Basketball Recruiting

Quick Recruiting Mailbag

On a daily basis I get asked about a variety of different basketball questions for recruiting. I know right now we are in the thick of the football transfer portal but thought I send an update on the guys I’ve heard about.

Just wanted to send a quick update out, there are many more guys we are recruiting but it’s been awhile so thought I shoot over a few updates of our top targets.

2025
Caleb Wilson – It’s Kentucky, don’t worry about anything else, unsure when he will announce but when he does it will be Kentucky.

2026
Caleb Holt – #3 overall recruit in 2026 – He holds offers from all the major players, but Jason Hart has a connection with Holt and I’ve been told this is our top target in the class. He is someone you build a class around as he is not only a shutdown defender but a top scorer as well.

Alex Constanza – #21 recruit in 2026 – a recruit that has potential reclassification intentions for 2025 that is the player that months ago I was referencing as the 5th piece of our 2025 recruiting class, he will make decision this summer. I think no matter if he reclassifies or stays in 2026 this will be someone Kentucky stays in contact closely with, at this point I do NOT think we are leading.

Taylen Kinney – #26 overally recruit in 2026 – if Kentucky wants him he is ours, other players would be Louisville and Tennessee. Kentucky has done a good job recruiting him thus far and I think we are in no rush on this one.

Ikenna Alozie – #11 overall recruit in 2026 – really impressive shooting guard who has lots of west coast teams recruiting him but since Hart, Brooks, and Pope have been recruiting him. I honestly think this one comes down to Kentucky or Arizona State.

2027

Jaylan Mitchell – #3 overall recruit in 2027 – he is a 6’7 small forward, and is a very athletic big man who I think will be a stretch four in college. He recently visited Kentucky, and I think his top school are: Kentucky, Indiana, Notre Dame, Missouri, and Illinois.
