Kentucky will host one of the biggest names in high school basketball next week. Tyran Stokes confirmed he plans to visit Lexington following the Nike Hoop Summit.
Yesterday, he sat down with Krysten Peek at the Nike Hoops Summit and spoke on his recruitment:
“I think I will be planning on going to Kentucky sometime this next coming week,” Stokes said. “Anytime after Hoop Summit. Just be on the lookout for that.”
Stokes’ visit carries importance given the changes within the program since his last time on campus. Mo Williams, who is now an assistant coach at Kentucky has a very strong relationship with Jamal Crawford, the coach of Rainier Beach. Stokes said getting face-to-face with the staff will be important:
“It’s a different kind of coaching staff since the last time I was on campus,” Stokes explained. “Just being able to go out there, talk to them, get to see what they’re for, see what their plan is for me, and just go out there and see what they’re talking about.”
Stokes, widely considered the most complete player in the 2026 class, is evaluating programs with development at the forefront of his decision. Like many elite prospects, his timeline appears accelerated, with the goal of being one-and-done at the college level.
“My plan is to be in college for no longer than… 10 months… or less than that, eight months,” Stokes said. “Just being able to go there, having a coach put his trust in me, me put my trust in him… to help me develop to be a great player.
Kentucky now gets its chance to make its case in person. With the No. 1 player in the 2026 class heading to Lexington and a decision potentially coming sooner rather than later, Monday’s visit could be an important moment in Kentucky pursuit of one of the nation’s top talents.
