No.12 Kentucky Women’s Basketball traveled to Oklahoma Sunday, taking the victory against
No.13 Sooners. This wasn’t just a victory for the team, but also for fifth-year Georgia Amoore.
Amoore made a new career-high of a total 43 points in this game. This ties Amoore with
Jennifer O’Neill and Rhyne Howard for the school record.
It was a quick start for the Cats thanks to a basket from Clara Strack to get things rolling. It
wasn’t long until Oklahoma made a basket of their own, tying up the game within the first few
minutes, 2-2. Amoore got to work on her 43 points landing her first three of the game to give
Kentucky the lead, 5-2.
The Sooners tied the game up again, but the Cats responded scoring the next six points with
baskets from Strack, Clara Silva, and Teonni Key the score now, 13-7. Oklahoma tried to catch
up, but only managed to get within four thanks to baskets from Amoore and Dazia Larence.
Oklahoma followed by going on a 6-3 run, but Kentucky was the one that ended the first quarter
with the lead, 30-19.
To start off the second quarter, Oklahoma went after Kentucky with another 6-3 run, but the Cats
responded scoring the next nine points to extend the lead, 40-27. Oklahoma managed the next
four, settling the score at,40-31.
Amoore then rallied scoring four buckets in a row to put some more distance in the score.
Oklahoma wrapped up the second quarter going on a 5-2 run, but it wasn’t enough to catch the
Cats who held the lead, 45-36.
Going into the third quarter Oklahome started strong with a 10-2 run finally catching up to the
Cats, 47-46. Amelia Hassett responded by sinking a three and Strack sank the next eight points.
Amoore scored 20 points in the first half, but wasn’t anywhere near done when she landed
another three to assist the 16-0 run.
The fourth and final quarter started with the Sooners nailing two threes to inch up to the Cats,
but Amoore fired two threes of her own to advance the Cats lead, 69-58. Oklahoma got within
seven points, but it wasn’t enough as the Cats closed it out, 95-86.
Kentucky will remain on the road traveling to Oxford to take on Ole Miss, February 10th at 7:00
