The Volleyball Championships are officially underway and the road the Louisville
is every college volleyball teams main goal. Thursday night the Kentucky
volleyball started their journey with a match against Cleveland State. The ladies
were taking a lot of momentum with them into postseason with an eight straight
SEC title. Although post season, this was like any other game. The girls came
out swinging to the start the game off with a 9-2 run in the first set and plenty of
attacks. Within the first set the team was hitting .424 and had 18 kills led by
Brooklyn Deleye. Beavin took control of the second set with a six serve run that
helped the Cats gain all momentum and claim set two. The third set was all
domination and huge swings by Erin Lamb to close out the sweep over the
Vikings. Coach Skinner said, “We’ve done a good job all season long preparing
for the next day and today’s super important but also preparing by what we do
physically in the gym. Making sure we’re gaging our effort and loads to prepare
us to play back to back days.” The Wildcats will be back Friday night to play
Minnesota at 7:30 at Memorial Coliseum.
